Advisory Member Spotlight
The IU Environmental Resilience Institute has been working on Transforming Brownfields to Brightfields in Indiana.  The IU ERI has teamed up with Kansas State’s Technical Assistance for Brownfields, RMI, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, and Indiana Brownfields to illuminate the step-by-step process to make this transformation with free technical assistance and access to state and federal remediation funding.  An excellent introduction to this process in Indiana is the recently completed Indiana Brightfields Webinar Series. For more information about funding opportunities of up to $4M, contact Bill Brown at brownwm@iu.edu.
Green Christmas Tips
1.Shop local! Buying Christmas gifts locally minimizes one's carbon footprint while also supporting the livelihoods of those in your community!
2. Make Eco-Friendly Wrapping Choices! Save your old wrapping paper or make wrapping paper out of brown paper grocery bags. Or, purchase recyclable wrapping paper. You can also use natural flora to decorate gifts in place of bows.
3. Avoid food waste! When preparing food for the holidays, you can use a portion calculator to ensure you minimize leftovers.
4. Use LED lights on your tree! Opting for LED lights can greatly decrease energy usage and look just as nice! You can also switch off the lights at night to save even more energy.
